So, just a brief summary about my Masterthesis
"contemporary Pyramids"
(hasn´t got a proper Workingtitle yet).

I´m working on the Phenomenon of Pyramids/ pyramidlike Buildings in contemporary Architecture.

As I researched so far, there haven´t been Pyramids built or projected for about 4000 years since the
ancient Egypt ones until the 18th century, when Boulleé and Ledoux came up with their designs for
huge pryramidal cenotaphs.
After that, the Interest in Pyramids dropped a bit, until their renaissance in postmodern times as a form.
But Today there seems to be a big Pyramid Boom all over the world. And the big Names are involved.
Foster did a Pyramid in Astana, Herzog & deMeuron are projecting about three pyramid lookalikes in Paris,
London and Switzerland, Koolhaas has joined the "Great Pyramid" project in Germany and so on.
Why is it? What is the deeper meaning of a Pyramid (cultural, historical, political..)?
Is there a desire for immortality or the for new religious forms/beliefs in society? Are Pyramids a Symbol of Community or a Symbol of a strong Leader forcing Community? Maybe there are similarities in other cultural disciplines?

When Charles Jencks talks about "Iconic Buildings" and Mark Wigley says "Reconstruction is the Ideologie of our Time", maybe contemporary Pyramids are the ultimate retroactive Iconic Buildings?
